To the Called Out Ones of Jesus Christ,
Embracing Change – A Journey with God in 2018
To the Called Out Ones of Jesus Christ (and to all those ready for more in life),
Are there things in your life that you would like to see changed in 2018? Do you feel stuck? Are there circumstances that you just can’t bear to see continue for another year? Have you made new year’s resolutions hoping you can break out of a rut? I’ve got good news for you!
God is not only the Creator, He is the Great Instigator of Change. Even though He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, He is the great Change Agent.
Think about it. Every time the world or His people, Israel, were in a predicament, He brought change. Sometimes the change was initially painful or scary but, ultimately, He was leading them somewhere better – like the Israelites getting out of Egypt having to go through the Red Sea and the desert before they got to the promised land. He was personally leading them to a better place, a place He had promised to and prepared for them.
He is still the same. He is the God of the NEW.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
“But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator, your King. This is what the Lord says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters,
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:1-3,14,18-19
Walking with God is a life of change, I don’t mean instability, I mean always new, always having a solution to whatever the problem, situation or life circumstance may be. He always has a plan and He never fails or gives up – no matter how hard or difficult a situation might seem. God is a God of transformation. Whether we’re talking about our personal lives or city-wide or national transformation, He is always working to bring things into harmony with His goodwill. (Ephesians 1:10)
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
We can face the present and the future with hope and confidence because He is with us and He is good. So, whatever challenge you have in front of you, whatever impossible situation, take the hand of the Good Shepherd who will lead you to green pastures and prepare a table of bounty right in front of your enemies. He is a good God and you and I can trust Him. Let’s untie our “ships” from the dock and enter into the ocean of possibility that He offers us!
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14
For the sake of the world and the glory of God!
